Commercial Vessel Crew Surveys
The SCT congratulates the personnel working on commercial, fishing and offshore oil industry vessels, on the "Day of the People of the Sea".
The Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT), through the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine, recognizes the personnel that make up the crew of commercial, fishing and offshore oil industry vessels; key workers to maintain the continuity of maritime transport and port operations, which guarantees the supply of goods and basic necessities.
On this date, the SCT calls on the authorities, whose competence converges in the port, to redouble efforts in the coordination and institutional collaboration, with the purpose of offering timely attention to maritime transportation and providing seafarers with alternatives for the development of their work, in the best conditions.
In these times, the seafarers showed their solidarity by expediting the flow of procedures for the access of ships to the port, crew changes, repatriation, resupply, repairs, inspections, certifications, among other aspects, in order to carry out the Humanitarian Bridges.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO), of which Mexico is a member, celebrates this June 25 the "International Seafarers' Day", with the campaign "Seafarers are key workers" and with the hashtag #SeafarersAreKeyWorkers, to highlight the importance of the activities of the personnel on board vessels involved in maritime trade.
The concept of seafarers refers to civilian personnel, merchant seafarers and, in general, any person who performs work on a vessel.
The SCT pays tribute to the crews for the multiple sacrifices and problems they face, which make navigation possible in an environmentally friendly manner, for the transportation of people and diverse goods required by society.
