API Ensenada Executes Works for the Benefit of the Community
The Administración Portuaria Integral de Ensenada (API), informs through its General Director, Mr. Juan Ramón Ruíz Armenta, that API Ensenada works and invests in works with the purpose of strengthening its Port - City linkage program, as well as for the benefit of the community.
One of the works that began to be carried out is the continuation and habilitation of Calle de la Marina, a work that is in its first stage of development, which consists of the extension of 134 linear meters where electrical installations and hydraulic piping are being conditioned and then proceed to pave the road with concrete.
The purpose of this project is to expand the tourist walkway where Ensenada residents and visitors have the opportunity to walk and enjoy the spaces intended for them.
The estimated investment for this work is $6.8 MDP with API Ensenada's own resources. It is estimated that the work will be completed by the end of February 2020, continuing with the second stage as stipulated in the executive project, with a total investment of approximately $25 MDP.
The second work in progress is the gabion dam at the mouth of the Ensenada Creek, with an investment of 4.8 MDP with API Ensenada's own resources, the project contemplates the execution of a hydraulic work for the control of garbage and storage of silt at the mouth of the creek inside the Port Precinct.
Gabion dams are rectangular structures made of galvanized wire coated with pvc to prevent corrosion by salt water, filled with rocks including the spillway and the dissipating structure.
With this project, it will be possible to store 11,259 cubic meters of silt before it reaches the sea, making the removal of materials from the creek much easier and less costly.
The project will generate a high positive impact, particularly on the environment, as well as on the improvement of port operations, and will also solve a pollution problem in the port roadstead and minimize the problem of silting of the same. The work is expected to be completed in April 2020.
It should be noted that API is exempted from filing Environmental Impact Assessment (MIA) No. DFBC/SGPA/UGA/DIRA/3060/19 by the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT).
