Ensenada, Mexico's First Green Port
The Port of Ensenada is the first port in Mexico to be certified as a Green Port. This certification certifies that the Port of Ensenada has the best environmental practices and quality standards in its port activities, joining the group of Green Ports in the world, most of which are European.
This international certification is in addition to the Port's existing environmental certifications: ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and Clean Industry.
What is a Green Port?
A Green Port is one that performs its port activities causing minimum damage to the environment and society, providing measures to improve and control the quality of air, water, noise and waste.
How is it obtained?
The "PERS" PORT ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW SYSTEM certification is created by ESPO/ECO PORT (European Sea Ports-Ecological Ports Organization) and is a certification endorsed by the recognized certifying entity Lloyd's Register, being the only environmental management system for the port sector in the world.

With this certification, the Port of Ensenada will become the first port to obtain this recognition in Mexico and the second in Latin America after Santa Martha, Colombia.
