Environmental Audit
At the beginning of 2020, the Port of Ensenada submitted to PROFEPA the start-up report for the environmental audit work, with the objective of renewing the Performance Level certificate, which will be valid from 2020-2022.
During the first quarter, the studies for environmental quality monitoring of the Port of Ensenada began during this 2020.
Noise emission monitoring: to evaluate the levels of noise pollution, so that prevention and mitigation measures can be established once an eventuality is detected.
Atmospheric quality monitoring, to know the amount of total suspended particulate matter (TSP) generated from the activities carried out within the port area of the city of Ensenada, with the intention of knowing if it is causing damage to the environment and harm to the health of the population.
Water quality monitoring of the harbor water, to evaluate the sanitary quality of the harbor water of the Port of Ensenada and El Sauzal.
Likewise, ASIPONA performs bimonthly water sampling of the interactive fountains of the boardwalk in order to detect the presence/absence of coliforms and free-living amoebae in the water. The above in order to be in compliance with NOM-245-SSA1-2010, which establishes the sanitary specifications that public services must comply with in order to minimize or control health risks to users.
The Port of Ensenada will continue with its continuous improvement by playing the role of an example port, motivating other ports to follow suit and thus raising the environmental quality level of the entire port sector in Mexico.
